All the big hitters in the Irish diaspora are heading to Ireland.

Some of Ireland's most successful emigrants have accepted a personal invite from the Taoiseach to return home to help pull the country out of recession, it has emerged.

More than 180 influential figures from the world of business, finance and culture have agreed to attend a major forum in Dublin to come up with fresh ideas to aid economic recovery.

Sir Bob Geldof, billionaire financier and Celtic FC backer Dermot Desmond, former Intel chair Craig Barrett and Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce are among the big names who will be at the Global Irish Economic Forum at Farmleigh later this month.
